Another community arts project I have been involved in was the Appledore Arts Festival in north Devon. For one week a year the tiny seaside community hosts a variety of workshops and events and concludes the festival with a parade along the harbour and back streets. The theme of 2009 was "Fire and Fury". We ran a workshop where we built a large Chinese Dragon for the parade. We made the main structure and head from willow and paper and our helpers decorated the dragon's individual scales.
