Habitation, May 2009.

'Habitation' is a large outdoor sculpture made from willow, hessian and press moulded ceramics. It was exhibited at the National Trust's Trelissick Gardens in Cornwall. Influenced by Le Corbusier's Unite d'Habitation in Marseilles it represents a large habitat for the gardens wild life. The colour scheme was taken from the large rhododendron it was exhibited beneath. The ceramic pods were filled with make-shift nests but the birds preferred to remove them and take them elsewhere! The one species which really took to it were snails who got all over it. I got quite attached to them and when taking it apart I made an effort to re-home them.
